Course Description
In this course, you will plan, optimize, and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows Server 2003 network infrastructure components including a TCP/IP physical and logical network, routing and switching, DHCP, a DNS strategy, DNS, WINS, IPSec, and network access.
Course Objective: You will plan and maintain a network structure.
Target Student: An individual employed or seeking employment as a systems engineer; an individual currently supporting a competitive platform who wants to enhance his or her job skills on Microsoft Windows Server 2003; or an individual who is preparing for the Microsoft certification Exam 70–291: Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure.
Prerequisites: To ensure your success, we recommend you first take the following course or have equivalent knowledge:
· Windows Server 2003: Implementing Network Services
Performance-Based Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
· become familiar with the network design process and the components of a network planning project.
· plan a TCP/IP addressing scheme and optimized network performance.
· create a secure routing and switching plan and troubleshoot TCP/IP routing.
· plan a secure DHCP strategy, optimize DHCP, and troubleshoot DHCP.
· plan a DNS server implementation, a namespace strategy, zones, zone replication and deletion, and integrate DNS and WINS.
· optimize a DNS server, DNS server-to-server communications, DNS client support traffic, and troubleshoot host name resolution.
· plan a WINS solution and optimize WINS traffic.
· plan IPSec deployment and troubleshoot IPSec.
· select a network access authentication method and plan a network access strategy.
· identify network access troubleshooting resources and methods.
· identify the components of the master project plan, explain the process for preparing development and test environments, and explain how to manage and maintain the network infrastructure.
